Hawk nudges you awake, and you blink sleepily, looking around. The sun is barely risen, and while the colors of the sky are magnificant, you would have appreciated a bit more time to sleep. "Come," your guide says, as you rise. "The next safe point is not quite so close, and we must get an early start if we want to be there before nightfall." The words do nothing to comfort your legs, which ache slightly from the previous day's hike. It looks as though you will be climbing the mountain for the entire day... The sun rises slowly as you follow Hawk up the rocky paths. Now and then, you see the flutter of wings, or higher above, an early-rising falcon soars effortlessly over the peaks and trees. You glance enviously at your guide's wings, and wonder why he consented to do such a job as this, walking visitors up the mountain, when he could be flying around just as easily without the tiring responsibility. You are, however, quite thankful to have him to guide you, as he knows the mountain well. "Sella li," a sudden voice speaks. Hawk seems to have been expecting it, and as you look around for the source of the voice, your guide points out two small unicorns resting underneath a tree. |
The voice comes from the blue-ish stallion. The mare watches you from where she stands. "I am Tefar'ala," the small stallion speaks, his blue tail and mane fluttering slightly in a tiny breeze. "My name means Fleeting Dream in your tounge." "And I am Wynfa'alasta," the mare says. "Wistful Dreams, when translated." You wonder the ages of these pony-sized unicorns. Though they looks small, they don't sound young, and you decide that they must simply be a smaller type than what you are used to. You wonder briefly how such small creatures could survive on this supposedly-dangerous mountain, before you remember that unicorns tend to have magic, and their's could probably take care of any threats. A small glint next to the stallion catches your eye. Tefar'ala catches the direction of your gaze, and lifts his head proudly, throwing his mane back. "Received for completing a Glory Challenge. Filanasta, of course, is my Glory, and I successfully used the magics associated with it to solve a puzzle." He looks quite pleased. "I am of the Iava Quiesta Glory," the mare says, equally proud. "I too have a glory stone." She tosses a bit of mane out of her eyes, and motions to the side. "So, only passing through?," Tefar'ala asks, more to Hawk than to you. "Indeed," your guide replies. He glances farther down the path. "Things are calm up ahead?" The little painted unicorn cocks his head to the side slightly, and you watch silently as the two converse. "Perhaps, perhaps not. A rather large flock of birds was displaced from the trees farther onwards. It could have been for a reason, or perhaps the birds were simply restless." The unicorn tosses his head, which seems to translate into shrugging. "I wouldn't be overly concerned." The little mare nods her head. "Or just a bit of harmless rogue magic acting up. No worries, though." Hawk nods. "We shall be moving onwards, in that case." You bid Tefar'ala and Wynfa'alasta goodbye, and move on. You take a quick look at a piece of parchment tacked to a nearby tree first, though...
